Xiangshan Film and Television City


Xiangshan Film and Television City is located in the town of Xinqiao, the city of Ningbo, Xiangshan County, Zhejiang Province, and is honored as one of China’s top ten film bases and designated movie and TV shooting bases in China.

The Xiangshan Film and Television City was constructed to serve as the backdrop of the movie “A Couple of Chivalrous Swordspersons and their Supernatural Eagles”. The city is complete with mansions, streets, squares, ponds, caves and lakes and cost about $20 million to build.

To date, the Town has built Shendiao City, Chunqiu City, Journey to the West Area, the economic hotel area, studios and other functionality and supporting infrastructures. Xiangshan Film and Television City was founded in May 2003. Since its official opening in 2005, the movie base has received over 160 film and TV crews and 4.3 million visitors, including famous crews from, Condor Heroes, Sacrifice, The Four, The Last Supper and The Lion Roars.

General Information
The Xiangshan Film and Television City is one of the top tourist destinations of the Ningbo district in east China. Here, tourists can bask in the view of the Lingyan Mountain, as well as other natural sceneries in the area.Xiangshan Film and Television City

Located 87 miles from Ningbo, the Xiangshan Film and Television City occupies a land space of 421 acres. It is protected by two-gated walls measuring 1,312 feet long, 20 feet wide and 33 feet high.

It was the first project by the architectural company, Qianyunxuan Transportation Planning and Design Firm in full accordance with the Song Dynasty style. The Shendiao City covers an area of 4,305,564 square feet. This includes the main Gate, Xiangcheng area, mountain area, lake area and scenic spots. Including six partitioned walls, forming the ancient battlefield, a workshop area, the village street, Guiyun Village, land of the Dead Tomb, Lu Village, Xiangyang City, yurts and other scenic spots with more than 160 single buildings. Also there is the layout of the five major courts, with the largest man-made banyan forest in the country, covering an area of 15,070 square feet. Plus a man-made cave covered 37,674 square feet. The second investment of $40 million, covers an area of 490 acres, including the Chunqiu City, Journey to the West Area, the economic hotel area, and studios. The Chunqiu City, covers an area of 152 acres with a storefront buildings area of 462,848 square feet. It is one of the most perfect of backgrounds for filming in the country. The Journey to the West Area, an area of 90 acres, is an important scene spot in the new "Journey to the West" by director Zhang Jizhong, including the Water Curtain Cave, Pantao Garden, Bones Ridge, holes and other bones of the dead which is popular in "Journey to the West" series.

The economic hotel area and studio is to meet the requirements of the staff, located in the northwest of the Shendiao City. The economic hotel has a building area of about 139,931 square feet, 87 rooms, kitchen facilities and restaurant. Also, there is a VIP building, with both standard rooms and suites, along with a studio construction area of about 41,786 square feet.

Rich History
The Xiangshan Film and Television City is known all throughout China as it was named the “Long Triangle Weekend Leisure Travel Hot Scenic Spot” in 2006, “The Provincial Film and TV Production Base” of 2007 and “Ningbo’s Culture Demonstration Base” in 2008.
